Paul Caruana is 57 years old and his first solo show was held in Moscow, in March 1985. Since then he had a total of ten solo shows, all locally. He’s taken part in many collective shows during his career. He focuses mainly on watercolour, as he finds it very well suited to the local colors. Caruana worked in oils but due to the fact that it takes time to dry he prefers watercolour.

The upcoming show, Ħrejjef ta’ Veru / Telltales follows on the footsteps of his last exhibition at Palazzo de Piro during October 2015, titled "Dear Younger Me". The past three shows dealt with the same theme, that is his childhood, and he hopes that this will close that cycle of themes. “I do these works to preserve my upbringing in a work of art, my childhood, where playing in the street was an everyday adventure, one that sadly disappeared a long time ago,” said Caruana.

The paintings depict far-off days when playing in the street or in St. Elmo’s Ditch Ruled. No cars, no computers to numb our playtime. Caruana also likes to portray certain people from his past. He also likes to paint about his childhood memories such as the big bakery he had down in the basement where he lived. He reminisce about helping out in the bakery eventhough it was dark and sometimes, rat infested.

This year's exhibition continues on the previous one. A trip down memory lane, visitors will have the pleasure to meet characters from Paul Caruana’s childhood during their everyday life in Maltese landscapes and vibrant colours symbolising the animated Mediterrean life.
